Fort Wilderness Weekend

We had a great weekend camping at Fort Wilderness in Disney World.  We did not have park passes we just went to camp and hang out.  Of course being Disney, the spots were beautiful but not exactly like we are used to. We had many neighbors but it was not too bad.

The first day we walked around to check everything out and wondered why everyone was driving golf carts.  We soon figured it out, this place was huge and driving was not an option so we ended up renting a golf cart for the weekend and enjoyed looking at all the cool golf carts people owned and thought "hey that is not a bad idea????"  We'll see.

We went to Chip and Dale's Camp Fire sing along and watched fire works from the beach.  It was too cool to swim but we played tennis, tetherball and of course rode around in our golf cart.  Laine got to have her first pony ride on "Butter".  Laine said she was a nice pony.  The boys were a bit too heavy for Butter.  The kids picture is with Dale, How can you tell?? Chip's nose looks like a chocolate chip and Dale's is brown and Dale looks sleepy.  Now you know.

One day upon our return, we had a visitor walking right through our camp.  Why do you always see turkeys in the wrong place and at the wrong time??

We ended our trip with Coy and Garrett coming down with the flu.  They were down all week.  Then poor Laine got it again on Thursday.  So we have washed and bleached everything we can.  Everyone went back to work/school today so hopefully this is it.  Mommy escaped it this time thank goodness for all.

Valentine's Day

Laine had a great time at her Valentine's Day party.  She made special Valentine's for all her friends and got to deliver them all by herself.  Her mailbox was full when she got home.  They decorated special cookies and her Daddy was her date which made it extra special.

Garrett and Jessica

They are getting so big and still great friends even miles and miles apart.  Yes they were caught holding hands ???  and yes they are both only 9, with birthdays 10 days apart.  Too cute !!

Good Friends

Our friends the Kirkpatricks came to stay with us this past weekend.  We had a great time just hanging out, catching up and playing.  Sunday night they had a reservation for a "character dinner" at Disney and invited us to join them.  We had a great meal and Goofy and Pluto were our guests.  The kids had so much fun.  The characters really had time to joke and hang out with the kids which was great.  It was more than just wait in line, take a picture...NEXT.  Garrett and Jessica enjoyed playing and it was like time had never passed.  Laine loved having continual playmates.  It was a bit too chilly for swimming but fun was had all around.  Our goodbyes were sad but we look forward to next time and many more memories to be made.

They did it again!!

Both boys got their report cards last week and not only did they get all A's again but they each improved on their A's from the first report card.
Garrett got an ice cream party at school and Walker had a small awards ceremony.
We are very proud of them.  Keep up the good work boys !!!!!

Garrett also was the only kid in his class to get an A on a special math test that was given to determine their overall math comprehension.  Most of his class did poorly and Mr. Murphy made it a special moment for Garrett when he announced that there was only one A in the class and it belonged to Garrett Ford.

Our Little Girl has the FLU

Our little Laine woke up Sunday with a fever.  We went to the Doctor on Wednesday and confirmed she has Influenza A and she has had a flu shot ????  So today is day 6 of fevers!  She has cold like symptoms and is tired.   She is a trooper, though.

Hard Freeze

Just thought I would take a few pictures of what a "hard freeze" looks like in Florida.  If the temperature drops below freezing for more than a couple hours they call it a "hard freeze" and everyone panics.  We covered all the bushes we could and hoped for the best.  It's not everyday in Florida you see ice in your fountain???  So, which is worse shoveling snow or covering bushes?  The jury is still out on that one, at least we do not usually have to cover bushes as often as many have to shovel snow.  Stay warm !!
